Seoul’s Grand Park and Zoo

Hello again!!!

I guess you can tell that I have been having all sorts of fun these days. It is getting warmer and I like to be out and about when the weather is nice. I have also been fortunate enough to have found a nice group of friends to spend time with on the weekends and sometimes during the work week. The group of people that I am with in some of these photos is from the CLS Korean Language course I am taking at Kyunghee University in Seoul.

As one of the class excursion we elected to visit Seoul’s Grand Park and the Seoul Zoo as a class on April 17, 2010. The event was amazing and I got to see lots of exciting things and spend more time with nice people. The zoo is like most zoos filled with animals and people watching them. I must admit that when I visit zoos in general, I feel a bit sad due to the nature of the animal’s captivity, yet understand to a degree the purpose of having a zoo.

The most exciting thing I saw at this zoo was the prime apes. In many zoos they seem to be sad and under expressive. The Seoul zoo had so many young apes playing and nursing that it made me smile. I saw two young monkeys and their parents in one living space. The little monkey was playing with what looks to have been his big brother or sister. They seem to be having so much fun that I did not want to leave the area. I also saw a new born of what looked to be maybe three to five months old nursing and playing on his mother. It was so amazing and heartfelt.

Flowers have always been a bright part of my life and every chance I get to visit a flower show I take advantage of it. The flowers exhibit at the park was also amazing and interesting. Just beautiful!

Needless to say I had a great time and was able to get many nice photos thanks to D. Forrest the photographer of many of the pictures I am posting these days. I hope you enjoy the pics!!!
